Soufage is the story of a Moroccan woman who emigrated to Germany at the age of 20. Influenced by the beautiful Moroccan culture and upbringing, Big City Berlin brings her face to face with a new world full of opportunities.
She immerses herself in the European world with all its modern and bizarre designs.Fascinated by fashion design, music and literature she eventually discovers her inspiration and fulfillment in art and architecture.Combining old rug knotting traditions with her love for art, she creates extraordinary rugs that tell stories from two completely different cultures.
She started off founding a women's initiative that made traditional carpets by hand. This project was meant to strengthen the women's independence as well as revive the forgotten art of weaving and make it internationally accessible. Her next step was the creation of Soufage, a new era in the art of rug making. Every rug is an adventure to her and to the weavers. They all experience the creation process as a symbiosis of creativity and craftmanship.
